A New Brewery Is Opening in Paradise!

Paradise Brew Werks Combines Beer with Rock and Roll

Something’s brewing in Paradise! If you guessed beer, you’d be right. And if you guessed a brand-new brewery, well, you’re right again!

Owners and Paradise residents Jamie Duncan and Jason Pieper are excited to bring the first-ever commercial brewery to Paradise: Paradise Brew Werks. But they don’t want it to just be a brewery: Jamie and Jason want this to be something they, and everyone living in Paradise, can be proud of.

How it all began: home brewing

It all started on Christmas morning in 2014 with a very special gift from Jamie’s son and daughter: a homebrew kit.

Jamie’s kids couldn’t have timed this gift better. Back home after touring the UK, Jason was eager for new creative outlets and the kit sparked a passion for brewing leading Jason to become the Founding Brewmaster at Lake Arrowhead Brewing after starting as a cellarman.

Jamie and Jason both recognized their shared desire for a brewery of their own and between the two of them equipped with ample business experience, they are turning their dream into a reality.

Paradise: the perfect place to build a brewery

Jamie and Jason have had a special connection to Paradise ever since Jamie’s sister moved here in 2010. “We were just into the vibe, said Jason. We always enjoyed visiting. It was overwhelming to see the growth after the fire, and to see the spirit here. Paradise was becoming something we really cared about.”

They were ready for a new adventure beyond Southern California and decided to move to Paradise permanently. Soon thereafter, they purchased the old Big 5 lot as the site of their future brewery.

What kind of beer will they make?

Paradise Brew Werks will sell a variety of beers. You can expect everything from “HOP HOP HOP Obsessed” IPAs to creative flavors like Debbie’s blueberry pancakes, to classics like American-style lagers and barrel-aged stouts.

Culinary-inspired sours and stouts will also be on the menu: Picture beers with names like Cucumber Kölsch, Fruity Pebble Stout, or Strawberry Cheesecake Berliner Weisse. Plus, they’ll have gluten-free seltzers anyone will enjoy.

Everything will be served in a proper beer glass, and best enjoyed in the beer garden out front when the weathers nice. But even in the colder months, you’ll love sitting inside. Jamie and Jason plan to decorate with a rock and roll vibe as an homage to their love for rock music. And they even have the perfect tagline to go with it. Given their location at 7337 Skyway, they’ve chosen the perfect tagline, “Skyway 2 Heaven”.

A Brewery for Paradise, by Paradise

Jamie and Jason loved the idea of being closer to family and Paradise does not have a commercial brewery yet. They saw the town growing and coming back to life after the fire and hoped it might encourage more people to visit—and maybe even move to—Paradise.

“We want to help rebuild the Paradise economy and inspire more people to do the same. Hopefully, it entices people to come up here and realize what it has to offer”, said Jamie.

“What’s happening in Paradise is going to be very, very cool, Jason added. It’s going to bring up younger families. It will get people to visit—and ultimately, it’s only going to help.”

The duo’s passion for the town is palpable, and they’re excited about how their brewery can help bring something new to Paradise after the fire. “We’re here to help rebuild Paradise,” said Jason. “If we could help with that momentum, the reward would be even more incredible.”

Goals and Next Steps for Paradise Brew Werks

“My goal is to have a brewery that’s well-known in the craft world. This is what we’re doing with our lives,” said Jason.

The upcoming phase involves an investor raise, and it doesn’t sound like there will be any challenges receiving support.

Looking ahead, Jamie and Jason aim to break ground for Paradise Brew Werks in 2024. Stay tuned—soon enough, you might find yourself enjoying a pint at Paradise Brew Werks!
