Paradise, California, April 15, 2021–The Town of Paradise is pleased to announce Dina Volenski, Paradise Town Clerk and long-time Paradise public servant, has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Municipal Clerk of the Year by the City Clerks Association of California.
The purpose of the CCAC Awards of Distinction is to recognize Municipal Clerk professionals who have made exemplary contributions to their city/district, community, or profession. This well-deserved award is a direct result of Ms. Volenski’s significant impact on the Town Council, staff, and residents of the Town of Paradise.
A lifelong Paradise resident, Dina began her service to the Town of Paradise in 2008 when she was hired as Assistant Town Clerk. In 2016, she was promoted to Town Clerk and emergency Public Information Officer, a role she embodied with courage and commitment in the challenging days after the Camp Fire. She presided as Clerk at every regular, special, and emergency Town Council meeting held in the chaotic days, weeks, and months following the fire, ensuring the residents of Paradise had accessibility to their elected officials even while displaced from Paradise.
“Dina Volenski is a talented Clerk, a trusted colleague, and a friend to everyone she meets,” said Kevin Phillips, Paradise Town Manager. “She’s far more than a trusted municipal staffer; she is a local encyclopedia for the people, places, and history of our community.“
As the Town recovers, Dina Volenski serves as the first person to greet visitors to Town Hall, the voice on the other end of the phone when residents call for information, and a sympathetic ear for residents. She herself lost her home in the fire, but has continued to seek new opportunities for herself and follow Paradisians at every corner. When not at her window, in Council Chambers, or navigating virtual meetings, you can find her on early morning walks through peaceful sunrises or taking in a play at her beloved Theatre on the Ridge.
“I could not think of a more deserving person for this prestigious award,” said Phillips. “We are proud to call her a Paradisian. Congratulations Dina!”
