Town of Paradise Hires Katie Simmons as Disaster Recovery Director
The Town of Paradise is pleased to announce that Katie Simmons has been hired as the Disaster Recovery Director. Ms. Simmons will be responsible for the Town’s Camp Fire recovery and will coordinate projects and activities as outlined in the Town’s Long-Term Recovery Plan. She will work closely with Cal OES, FEMA, Town Staff, and residents as we navigate the rebuilding process to build a vibrant, resilient community in Paradise.
“The Town is excited to have Katie join our team. She brings a strong skill set in project management, is an experienced and effective communicator, and has established, long-held relationships in the area. I am thrilled to have her back in Paradise and to help lead our recovery,” said Town Manager, Lauren Gill.
Many will remember Katie Simmons as the Executive Director of the Paradise Chamber of Commerce. She also served as President and CEO of the Chico Chamber of Commerce for seven years before becoming Vice President, Operations, and Finance for Associated General Contractors of California. Ms. Simmons says this role brings her work full circle. “Paradise welcomed me with open arms in 2008 when I moved from the Bay area. The experience, skills, and knowledge I’ve acquired since then have prepared me to come back to the community and assist with the recovery and rebuilding effort.”
Ms. Simmons’ first day in the position will be Monday, May 11, 2020.
