NEWS THIS WEEK:

  • This month’s Community Information Meeting was held on Tuesday, October 1st at 6 pm. This meeting was focused on insurance in the burn scar area. Hundreds were in attendance to hear updates from Rebuild Paradise and the Deputy Commissioner of the California Department of Insurance. There was also an update provided by the U.S. Census Bureau.  The meeting was streamed live on Facebook. Watch it here: https://bit.ly/2nRMX9T

  • ATTENTION: Building Department Applicants, submittal of rebuild plans can take 30-40 minutes to process. As such, please be advised; NO REBUILD PLANS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 4:00 P.M. STARTING OCTOBER 1st. Thank you for understanding.

  • Tree Removal:  The Government Hazard Tree Removal Program, which is currently approved for properties along public roads, will be available at no out-of-pocket cost to property owners who complete and sign a Tree Right-of-Entry (ROE) form in a similar manner to the debris removal program.  The Town and County will open Right-of-Entry Centers in the coming weeks to collect ROEs. More information will be provided soon about which properties are eligible for the Program, ROE Center locations, and information meetings for community members. The Town continues to work with Cal OES and FEMA to advocate for including private roads in this program.  We hope to have more information on that initiative soon.

  • Voting for the new “Paradise” sign has started. As a community, we were pleased to have received a number of inspiring submissions for the future Gateway to Paradise Sign. The thought, care, and passion shown by the designers is a testament to the creativity and strength of our community. Once the votes are tallied, we will make a formal announcement of the winner and progress towards plans permitting and construction. The sign committee is doing their absolute best to make sure that past and present residents of Paradise have the ability to observe the 7 designs and vote. Voting can be done through online voting here  https://bit.ly/2nfSMNV or through attending Johnny Appleseed Days. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing our signs greeting guests and residents once again.

  • This weekend is Johnny Appleseed Days at Terry Ashe Park where local businesses will give demonstrations and display their wares, and Paradise will host artisans from all over the state and beyond selling a variety of handicrafts. The ever-popular children’s area will feature face painting, games for the young and old alike and prizes. Johnny Appleseed will visit and tell stories. The town will be giving away 500 apple pie making kits. There will be continuous entertainment both days. Don’t miss out on a time-honored tradition.

  • Paradise Blues & Brews is taking place this weekend at Paradise Community Park on Saturday, Oct. 5th. There will be fun and talented Blues music by 7 bands. Wine, Beer, Food raffles and dancing. Looking for a great crowd!

  • In order to better serve our residents, the Town will open the Building Resiliency Center (BRC) at 6295 Skyway (old Bank of America Building) in the coming months.  This will be a one-stop-shop for building permits, information and housing resources.  The Town is working hard to open the BRC by Nov.8th, and we are looking for funding to get the building ready after sitting vacant for several years.

  • It has been nearly one year since the Camp Fire, and many events are being planned for the week of November 8th.  The Town will hold several events on Friday, November 8th:

    • 11:08 am:  86 seconds of silence for the 86 lives lost, and the unveiling of the “Key Phoenix” – Building Resiliency Center – 6295 Skyway

    • 6:30 pm: Camp Fire Remembrance Ceremony – Paradise Alliance Church 6491 Clark Rd.
