This week, we’re highlighting Pee Wee Preschool. Pee Wee Preschool is a family-owned preschool and after-school care facility with a 40+ year legacy of excellent childcare on the Ridge. Pee Wee offers preschool for ages 2 through 5 years as well as after school and holiday care for children 6 to 12 years. The custom-built facility at 7196 Skyway is staffed with professionals attuned to the special needs of all children, including our disaster-affected wee ones. WHAT’S NEW

Furniture Program for Camp Fire Survivors

In partnership with Love Delivers, World Vision, North Valley Community Foundation, the Butte Strong, and Magalia Community Church, new household furniture and other items are available to Camp Fire survivors. If you are interested, fill out an application at magaliacommunitychurch-mcc.org. Once your application is sent in and approved, you will receive a call to schedule a time and day to pick up the items you need!

Measure V Citizen Oversight Committee Applications, October 21

If you are interested in serving your community, applications for the Measure V Citizen Oversight Committee are available! One regular and three alternate seats are available to Paradise residents. The committee meets quarterly to oversee the implementation of the Measure V sales tax revenue. If this is of interest to you, visit www.townofparadise.com to apply! Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 and interviews will be conducted on October 26 and 27.

Love Paradise Make a Difference Day, October 23

Join community volunteers on October 23 in cleaning up the Ridge on National Make a Difference Day! This Love Paradise event begins at 8 a.m. and ends with a free lunch at noon, taking place at the Pine Ridge School, 13878 Compton Drive, in Magalia. Don’t forget to bring a mask, a water bottle, and some yard tools!

Paradise Trail Run, October 23

Join in on the Paradise Trail Run on Saturday, October 23 along the beautiful Paradise Lake in Magalia. This event offers a free 1-mile run beginning at 8:00 a.m., and a 4-mile and 9-mile run beginning at 8:30 a.m. A discount is offered for students 17 & under upon checkout. Come out and enjoy a serene fall morning along a mostly flat trail. Best of all, everyone will receive a medal at the finish line! To sign up, visit runsignup.com.

Walking and Bicycling Network Survey
Do you have ideas for improving the walking and bicycling network in the Town of Paradise?
You are invited to provide your input by taking the following 6-question survey:

Plan (ATP), which will position the Town to pursue grant funding to improve our community. The
ATP identifies opportunities to increase walking and bicycling within the Town and explores
ways to provide dual function during a disaster evacuation, to increase emergency responder
access to the Town.

Paradise Symphony Orchestra, October 24

Come out and enjoy the first concert of the season! The Paradise Symphony Orchestra is putting on a Fall concert on Sunday, October 24 from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. This event will take place at the Paradise Performing Arts Center, featuring the Young Artists Contest winners. Tickets are only available at the door or online if you visit paradise symphony.org.

Ribbon Cutting: Paradise Grocery Outlet, October 28

The grand opening of the Paradise Grocery Outlet is taking place on Thursday, October 28! Come out and celebrate the ribbon cutting with the community beginning at 9:30 a.m. By going to www.groceryoutlet.com/win-groceries-paradise you can enter to win up to $1,000 in grocery money! You have from October 21 through November 25 to enter. The new location is located at 6800 Skyway Rd.

Veterans Day Celebration, November 11

Bring the whole family out for the Veteran’s Day celebration on November 11, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy the Patriotic music by the Paradise Pheromonic Orchestra’s Brass Quintet and Paradise’s own Mountain Ridge Singers, followed by a speech by Mayor Crowder and Butte County Supervisor Teeter. There will be a dedication of a Veterans Monument for those who have fallen before us and a 3-volley rifle salute. The day will end with a family picnic where a hotdog or hamburger meal will be served!

Annapurna at Theatre on the Ridge, October 7 – October 24

Free Residential Green Waste Disposal, October 13

Green Waste Disposal Days are free for Butte County residents living in the Wildland Urban Interface, including Paradise. Moneyball: Community Baseball Movie Series, October 14 at 6:30 p.m.

The Paradise Recreation and Park District is celebrating baseball with the Outdoor Movie Series viewing of MONEYBALL. Rated PG-13. Held at the Terry Ashe Center starting at 6:30 pm. All movies are free and begin between sunset and dusk. Hot dogs, soda, popcorn, candy, and pizza will be available to purchase through the snack bar. No outside food or drink is permitted. Peddler’s Fair at Deja-Vu Gardens Galore Nursery, October 16

The 6th Semi-Annual Peddlers Fair is October 16 at Deja-Vu Gardens Galore Nursery from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Deja-Vu invites you to enjoy a day of the by-gone era, some good old-time family fun with homemade, locally sourced novelty items and goods made by the craftspeople of our community. Paradise Community Village Rebuild Completed

Established in Paradise in 2018, the Paradise Community Village was an affordable housing community completely destroyed in the Camp Fire. The Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) took on the rebuild in 2020 and has completed the construction of 36 total units on the original location of the community. This large family development is comprised of one, two and three-bedroom units, along with a new playground and community center. Original residents and Camp Fire survivors will begin moving into the units in late September. 

Town of Paradise Welcomes Members of the New Community Relations Committee

The Town of Paradise has created the Community Relations Committee, a volunteer citizens group formed to provide feedback from Paradise residents on a variety of issues that face our community during our recovery from the 2018 Camp Fire. Committee members are:

Jenna Murray-Johnson, Cynthia Harvey, Vicki Taylor, Jackie Fullerton, Joule Charney, Kathleen Mclane, Heidi Eilick, Dorothy Chinnock (Dottie), Phyllis Parent, Jim Clarkson, Robert Jensen, Ann Martin, Pete Samuel, Donna Buzzard. The group meets monthly at Town Hall. Welcome!

Home Builders Resource Connection Online Plan Room

The Rebuild Paradise Foundation (RPF) and Valley Contractors Exchange (VCE) have partnered to launch Home Builders Resource Connection Online Plan Room! This FREE tool is intended to connect the dots between those looking to rebuild after the devastating fires Butte County has experienced in 2018 and 2020 and contractors that can perform this work. The Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce has provided the Paradise Ridge Marketplace to keep your shopping local. Purchase some of your favorite Ridge items, such as Ridge Rising apparel and other fun member products. New items are added frequently. Learn more at www.ShopParadiseRidge.com.  

Funding Options for Those Rebuilding after the Camp Fire

  1. NEW – Grants Up to $200,000 Available for those Rebuilding after the Camp Fire

    The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) recently announced the Disaster Housing Assistance Survey for survivors of the 2018 wildfire disasters is now open. Homes damaged or destroyed by the Camp Fire may be eligible for up to $200,000; and low- to moderate-income households will receive priority.

    If you are a disaster survivor and wish to see if you qualify for the ReCoverCA Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (OOR Program), start by taking the 2018 Disaster Housing Assistance survey available at https://recover.hcd.ca.gov/.  If you need assistance with the survey, contact Butte County OOR Case Managers Brittney Murray or Glen Johnson at (916) 202-1764.

  2. Up to $150,000 in low-interest, deferred Loans for homeowners (can be used even if insurance funds and/or FEMA funds have been spent)

    The Town of Paradise offers deferred, low-interest loans to low and moderate income households rebuilding after the Camp Fire. For more information on eligibility and how to apply, click here or call the Town’s Housing Department at (530) 872-6291 x122. We are happy to answer any questions you might have. 

Town Hall and the Building Resiliency Center Open to the Public 

Town Hall and the Building Resiliency Center (BRC), both on Skyway are open to the public. Town Hall and Town Meetings are open to the public with limited seating and social distancing procedures in place. The BRC is accepting walk-ins and individuals are requested to ring the bell located by the front doors to enter. This will ensure social distancing requirements can be met.
