3RD ANNIVERSARY EVENTS
Commemorative Run: The Phoenix 5k, November 6
The Phoenix 5k is a commemorative run in honor of the Camp Fire and those who were affected by it. This event is taking place on Saturday, November 6, starting at 8 a.m. The run will begin at Paradise Intermediate School, 5657 Recreation Drive, and will be led throughout the town, passing by many important locations. This $25 dollar event is offered in-person or virtual and all proceeds will go towards offering free wellness events on the ridge. Camp Fire Commemorative, November 6
Join the community on November 6 for the CampFire Commemorative. This event is taking place at the Skyway Antique Mall, 6118 Skyway, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You will have the opportunity to connect with the community, paint hearts, and receive free resources. 2022 Camp Fire Mural Calendar Signing, November 6
Mural artist Shane Grammer will be in Paradise on November 6 for a 2022 Camp Fire Mural calendar signing. The signing is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Paradise Art Center, 5564 Almond Street. Plant Giveaway, November 6
California Native Plant Society, in conjunction with Butte County Resource Conservation District, is pleased to announce a plant and tree giveaway in Paradise on the lawn of the Paradise Veterans Memorial Hall, 6550 Skyway, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on November 6. Choose from nearly 350 native plants to take home! These plants are especially chosen to restore the local Ridge habitat. If you live in any of the areas that were impacted by the fires and are replanting your yards, please come by and grab a plant. The plants will be a mixture of milkweed, roses, buckwheat, California fuchsias, salvia, penstemon and sages.
Anniversary Gathering at Paradise Alliance Church, November 7

Butte College Fall Showcase, October 29 – November 7
The Butte College Fall Showcase is performing from October 29 to November 7 with an original show. The students have crafted a masterpiece containing dramatic, comedic, and improvised performances along with audience interaction. The show will take place at the Black Box Theater located in the Arts Building at Butte College, located at 3536 Butte Campus Drive. Bring your friends and family out to enjoy this free show! Habitat Gardening in Fire Prone Landscapes Presentation, November 3
On November 3 at 7 p.m., join the Mt. Lassen chapter of the California Native Plant Society in a Zoom presentation of “Habitat Gardening in Fire Prone Landscapes,” presented by Dr. Adrienne Edwards and Rachell Schleiger. Dr. Edwards is a plant ecologist and garden designer. Ms. Schleiger is a botanist specializing in restoration ecology. In this talk, they’ll discuss the characteristics, installation, and maintenance of native plants for fire safety and mitigating the negative impacts of habitat fragmentation. They’ll also be showing examples using the plants listed below in CNPS’s Plant Giveaway (see information below), for the residents of Paradise, Concow, and Berry Creek areas. Rebuild Reunion, November 10
Ridge Affordable Homes (RAO) is offering a free monthly seminar for homeowners, businesses, and community leaders. The next seminar will be Wednesday, November 10 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The seminar will include information on re-construction, real estate, insurance, finance, and manufactured housing led by representatives of the town and qualified industry professionals. Furniture Program for Camp Fire Survivors
In partnership with Love Delivers, World Vision, North Valley Community Foundation, the Butte Strong Fund, and Magalia Community Church, new household furniture and other items are available to Camp Fire survivors. Once your application is sent in and approved, you will receive a call to schedule a time and day to pick up the items you need!

Ribbon Cutting: Paradise Grocery Outlet, October 28
The grand opening of the Paradise Grocery Outlet is taking place on Thursday, October 28! Paradise Recreation and Parks District Halloween Festival & Outdoor Movie, October 30
Come join the fun at the Terry Ashe Recreation Center at 6626 Skyway, Paradise, CA 95969 on Saturday, October 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be games, crafts, candy, and an outdoor Halloween movie that starts at 7:30 p.m. Come in your costumes and be prepared for fun. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to watch the movie on the giant inflatable outdoor movie screen.

Veterans Day Celebration, November 11
Bring the whole family out for the Veteran’s Day celebration on November 11, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy the Patriotic music by the Paradise Philharmonic Orchestra’s Brass Quintet and Paradise’s own Mountain Ridge Singers, followed by a speech by Mayor Crowder and Butte County Supervisor Teeter. There will be a dedication of a Veterans Monument for those who have fallen before us and a 3-volley rifle salute. The Shoemaker’s Daughters by Theatre on the Ridge, November 11- December 5
Theatre on the Ridge is performing The Shoemaker’s Daughters November 11 through December 5. The showtimes are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, curtains open at 7:30 p.m. “It’s swinging London town in the groovy 60’s and Henry Hobson has more daughters than he knows what to do with. Things don’t quite go as planned when Harry sets out to fix his three girls up with “suitable” spouses that will free him from the financial burdens of the trio’s upkeep”. Paradise on Ice Returns, November 11 – January 17
Paradise on Ice returns on November 11! Come out for a fun day of ice skating with your family and friends. Paradise on Ice offers public skate, adult skate, lessons, private rentals, and party rooms! The ice rink will be open daily (weather permitting) and the hours are: Mon-Thurs 2:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m., Friday 12 p.m.- 8 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m.- 10 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m.- 8 p.m.

Building and Fire Safety on the Ridge – The Expo, November 13
The Home Builders Resource Connection and Butte County Fire Safe Council are bringing a “Building & Fire Safety on the Ridge” Expo to Paradise on November 13! This expo is a great resource for those who are seeking guidance in the rebuilding of their homes. The expo will offer options, resources, and information on all things home-building with the opportunity to check out exhibits and informational seminars. Paradise Community Village Rebuild Completed
Established in Paradise in 2018, the Paradise Community Village was an affordable housing community completely destroyed in the Camp Fire. The Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) took on the rebuild in 2020 and has completed the construction of 36 total units on the original location of the community. This large family development is comprised of one, two and three-bedroom units, along with a new playground and community center. Original residents and Camp Fire survivors will begin moving into the units in late September.
Town of Paradise Welcomes Members of the New Community Relations Committee
The Town of Paradise has created the Community Relations Committee, a volunteer citizens group formed to provide feedback from Paradise residents on a variety of issues that face our community during our recovery from the 2018 Camp Fire. Committee members are:
Jenna Murray-Johnson, Cynthia Harvey, Vicki Taylor, Jackie Fullerton, Joule Charney, Kathleen Mclane, Heidi Eilick, Dorothy Chinnock (Dottie), Phyllis Parent, Jim Clarkson, Robert Jensen, Ann Martin, Pete Samuel, Donna Buzzard. The group meets monthly at Town Hall. Welcome!

Funding Options for Those Rebuilding after the Camp Fire

NEW – Grants Up to $200,000 Available for those Rebuilding after the Camp Fire
The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) recently announced the Disaster Housing Assistance Survey for survivors of the 2018 wildfire disasters is now open. Homes damaged or destroyed by the Camp Fire may be eligible for up to $200,000; and low- to moderate-income households will receive priority.
If you are a disaster survivor and wish to see if you qualify for the ReCoverCA Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (OOR Program), start by taking the 2018 Disaster Housing Assistance survey available at https://recover.hcd.ca.gov/. If you need assistance with the survey, contact Butte County OOR Case Managers Brittney Murray or Glen Johnson at (916) 202-1764.

Up to $150,000 in low-interest, deferred Loans for homeowners (can be used even if insurance funds and/or FEMA funds have been spent)
The Town of Paradise offers deferred, low-interest loans to low and moderate income households rebuilding after the Camp Fire. Town Hall and the Building Resiliency Center Open to the Public
Town Hall and the Building Resiliency Center (BRC), both on Skyway are open to the public. Town Hall and Town Meetings are open to the public with limited seating and social distancing procedures in place. The BRC is accepting walk-ins and individuals are requested to ring the bell located by the front doors to enter. This will ensure social distancing requirements can be met.
