Paradise Alliance Church Presents Christmas Movie Special, December 3 & 17

Grab a lawn chair and blanket and come enjoy the Christmas Movie Special at the Paradise Alliance Church. On December 3 there will be a showing of Elf and on December 17 there will be a showing of Frosty the Snowman, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. The movies will take place in the Paradise Alliance Church gym beginning at 6:30 p.m. Call (530) 877-7069 for more information.

Paradise Holiday Preview, December 4

Take a walk through town on Saturday, December 4 and check out all of the local businesses decorated and ready for the holiday season. The participating businesses include: Attic Treasures, Bakers Birkenstock, Bobbi’s Boutique, Déjà Vu Gardens Galore, Fins, Fur & Feathers, Jeannie’s, Joy Lyn’s, Nic’s Restaurant, Paradise Art Center, Paradise Bikes, Paradise Garden Supply, Skyway Antique Mall, Treasures from Paradise, and Woodworth’s Jewelers. Call for store hours and be sure to shop local!

Countdown to Christmas, December 4

Join the community for a festive day with the family at the Terry Ashe Recreation Center! Begin the day with Santa’s Workshop Holiday Craft Faire going from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Move on over to the build-an-ornament crafting from noon to 3 p.m. Enjoy the Tiny Tots Christmas Carols beginning at 4 p.m. Don’t forget to get your picture with Santa after he arrives at 4:30 p.m. End the evening with the Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Lighted Truck Parade at 6:30 p.m. For more information on this FREE event, visit www.paradisechamber.com

Truck Parade of Lights and Canned Food Drive, December 4

Come out for a truck parade of lights on Saturday, December 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. All vehicles and trucks are welcome to enter into the parade. The entry fee for the event is non-perishable canned foods. The drop-off points for the canned foods are Ace Hardware in Paradise, Smokers Paradise in Magalia, Nic’s on Skyway, or the check-in table near the front of Ace on the day of the parade. The decorated vehicles will meet in the Ace Hardware parking lot at 4:30 p.m. before they begin the route. For more information, contact Eric Hegenbart at (530) 877-8261. 

6th Annual Christmas Party for Kids on the Ridge, December 18

Bring your kids ages 2 to 12 to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Veterans Memorial Hall on December 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event will provide lunch and many fun activities for the kids including a bounce house and games. Paradise on Ice OPEN Now Through January 17

Paradise on Ice is now back through January 17! Come out for a fun day of ice skating with your family and friends. Paradise on Ice offers public skate, adult skate, lessons, private rentals, and party rooms! The ice rink will be open daily (weather permitting) and the hours are: Mon-Thurs 2:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m., Friday 12 p.m.- 8 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m.- 10 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m.- 8 p.m.

Uptown Dance Winter Showcase, December 3 & 4

Enjoy the Winter Showcase put on by Uptown Dance on Friday, December 3 at 6 p.m. or Saturday, December 4 at 2 p.m. This event will take place at the Paradise Performing Arts Center located at 777 Nunnelly Road, Paradise. For more information, contact the Uptown Dance Arts at (530) 399-0436.

Holiday in Paradise Concert, December 5

Get in the holiday spirit with a concert featuring the Paradise Community Chorus directed by Sam Gronseth and the Paradise Symphony Orchestra, directed by Dr. Lloyd Roby. This event is on Sunday, December 5 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Paradise Performing Arts Center at 777 Nunneley Road. Along with the musical numbers, enjoy ballet and other visual performances by the Ridge and nearby organizations. Admission is $15 for adults and children 12 and under are free. Beauty and the Beast Jr., December 10-12

Bring your family out to see The Stagecoach Youth Theater production of Beauty and the Beast JR, directed by Amber Miller. The Yule Logs Winter Wonderland Performance, December 11

Enjoy a FREE concert while you skate at the Terry Ashe Recreation Center on December 11. The Yule Logs Winter Wonderland Performance will begin at 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. This concert is free to the public, but donations are gladly accepted to keep the music and ice in Paradise. Northern California Ballet Presents The Nutcracker, December 17-19

From the captivating dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy to the iconic snow scene, this classical ballet set to the beloved music of Tchaikovsky continues to enthrall audiences of all ages. The ballet takes place Friday, December 17 at 7:15 p.m., Saturday, December. 18 at 2:15 p.m. & 7:15 p.m., and Sunday, December. 19, at 2:15 p.m at the Paradise Performing Arts Center. Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) Expanding Mutual Self-Help Housing Program in Paradise

If you are a lot owner in Paradise looking to rebuild OR you are interested in helping build a new home for your family in Town, you may be eligible to be a part of the new self-help housing program from CHIP. Eligible families meeting low income requirements and other criteria will appreciate affordable monthly payments, the ability to help build your own home, no down payment, and a low fixed interest rate. No construction experience necessary! Paradise Irrigation District Update

As meters are being installed throughout the district, customers will begin to be charged once again for consumption. PID will notify customers ahead of time with an example bill to show them what to expect. Customers can also download a mobile app (dropcountr) to help them monitor water usage and alert them to unexpected water use or a leak.

Home Builders Resource Connection Online Plan Room

The Rebuild Paradise Foundation (RPF) and Valley Contractors Exchange (VCE) have partnered to launch Home Builders Resource Connection Online Plan Room! This FREE tool is intended to connect the dots between those looking to rebuild after the devastating fires Butte County has experienced in 2018 and 2020 and contractors that can perform this work. Funding Options for Those Rebuilding after the Camp Fire

  1. NEW – Grants Up to $200,000 Available for those Rebuilding after the Camp Fire

    The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) recently announced the Disaster Housing Assistance Survey for survivors of the 2018 wildfire disasters is now open. Homes damaged or destroyed by the Camp Fire may be eligible for up to $200,000; and low- to moderate-income households will receive priority.

    If you are a disaster survivor and wish to see if you qualify for the ReCoverCA Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (OOR Program), start by taking the 2018 Disaster Housing Assistance survey available at https://recover.hcd.ca.gov/.  If you need assistance with the survey, contact Butte County OOR Case Managers Brittney Murray or Glen Johnson at (916) 202-1764.

  2. Up to $150,000 in low-interest, deferred Loans for homeowners (can be used even if insurance funds and/or FEMA funds have been spent)

    The Town of Paradise offers deferred, low-interest loans to low and moderate income households rebuilding after the Camp Fire. For more information on eligibility and how to apply, click here or call the Town’s Housing Department at (530) 872-6291 x122. We are happy to answer any questions you might have. 

  3. Missing Middle Grant – Up to $5,000 to qualifying middle-class or lower middle-class households

    Rebuild Paradise Foundation is offering grant funding that is awarded as reimbursement for the following pre-construction costs: up to $2,000(max) for survey costs, up to $2,000(max) for architecture/engineering fees and up to $1,000(max) for water related expenses. Town Hall and the Building Resiliency Center Open to the Public 

Town Hall and the Building Resiliency Center (BRC), both on Skyway are open to the public. Town Hall and Town Meetings are open to the public with limited seating and social distancing procedures in place. The BRC is accepting walk-ins and individuals are requested to ring the bell located by the front doors to enter. This will ensure social distancing requirements can be met.
