BUSINESS UPDATE

Over the last year, Paradise has been fortunate to welcome new and returning businesses to our community.   Recently, Déjà vu Nursery, Tractor Supply Co. and Joy Lynn’s Candies are a few of the more recent additions to Paradise.  The Town has seen interest increase from businesses looking to open in Paradise to serve our community as we recover, and the Town is doing everything we can to support them in their efforts.  In order to support our business owners through the process, Town Staff meets with prospective businesses to walk them through the permitting and opening process to ensure a smooth experience.  If you are thinking about opening a business in Paradise, please reach out to our business liaison Colette Curtis at (530) 872-6291 x112 or ccurtis@townofparadise.com to schedule a business development meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Update on a Few Long-Term Recovery Plan Projects

Our recovery after the Camp Fire continues with our community rising above challenges and celebrating successes. Below provides an update on the Early warning System implementation and the Reseeding Program Plan coming soon.

  •   Early Warning System: With the advanced assistance plan completed and approved, the Town is submitting a grant application through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) by the end of the year. Pending approval, construction is estimated to move forward in 2021.

  •   Reseeding Program Plan: After an Advanced Assistance HMGP grant approval, the Town will be welcoming proposals in early 2021 from contractors to evaluate and establish next steps for reseeding after tree removal and educating the community on vegetation opportunities. Once a contractor has been established, we anticipate community input and education opportunities throughout 2021. Upon completion of the plan, the Town will seek funding to implement in 2022/2024.

  • Broadband Services: We anticipate our Broadband Feasibility Study to be completed and presented in early 2021. This will answer questions about the possibilities we have for a broadband community and what implementation would look like. In the coming years, we will have a focus on establishing implementation opportunities.
