Upcoming Deadlines

December 4, 2020  Private Program “Cut by” Deadline. By this date, property owners must cut their hazardous trees and remove them from their property. In the Town, properties must also be certified clear of trees by this date. This deadline may be extended to February 1, 2021 for property owners who have contracted with a tree contractor by December 4 2020, even if the trees have not been removed by Dec. 4

December 31, 2020 Government Program Enrollment deadline. The Government Program has started removing trees as of Nov. 17, 2020.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Home Builders Resource Virtual Connection

An opportunity to connect rebuilders with the trades and resources needed to build in the Paradise community is once again taking place, with a virtual change. Companies will become accessible through a 2-minute video shared with community members who attend. A formal launch will be coming soon. 

 Annual Truck Parade of Lights and Canned Food Drive

A community event for all ages, the Annual Truck Parade of Lights and Canned Food Drive is taking place Saturday, December 5th from 5-7pm. Decorated trucks will compete for the judges vote at the Ace Hardware parking lot and then travel west on Pearson and up Skyway towards the Holiday Market.

Drive-in Movie and Tree Lighting with Paradise Recreation and Parks District (PRPD)

PRPD will be hosting multiple opportunities to participate in holiday celebrations this year, with COVID restriction at the top of mind. On Saturday, December 5th, there will be a tree lighting ceremony taking place before the Truck Paradise of Lights (5pm) at Terry Ashe Park. They are also providing multiple Fridays and Saturday night movie nights for residents to drive in and enjoy a Christmas film. Learn more at www.paradiseprpd.com.

 


What’s New:

Government Hazard Tree Removal Program Begins, Sets Deadline for Enrollment.

The first tree has been cut in the Government Hazard Tree Removal Program, marking the next phase of recovery for Paradise after the Camp Fire. The Government Program is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and administered by the State of California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and CalRecycle and is the first of its kind where trees on private property can be removed through a FEMA funded program. The Government Program has set a deadline to enroll of December 31, 2020.

Property owners in the Camp Fire footprint must remove hazardous trees on their property. To sign up for the Government Program, contact the Tree ROE Center or the Paradise Tree Advocates.

The Town of Paradise Tree Advocates can provide personal assistance through this process, if you are enrolled in the Private Program, the Government Program, or don’t know where to start. Tree Advocates can be reached at trees@townofparadise.com or by calling 530.872.6291 x 162 or 163.

 

Private Program “Cut by” Deadline. By this date, property owners must cut their

hazardous trees and remove them from their property. In the Town, properties must

also be certified clear of trees by this date. This deadline may be extended to February

1, 2021 for property owners who have contracted with a tree feller by December 4, 2020, even if the trees have not been removed by Dec. 4 th ; or if they have scheduled a compliance inspection with the ROE Center after December 4 th but before February 1st to certify their property clear of hazardous trees.

“Tree Window” to Assist Residents Now Open at Town Hall by appointment only. The Town has opened a “tree window” at Town Hall to assist the public with hazard tree removal questions. Haven’t enrolled in a program yet and have questions? Call for an appointment! It’s staffed by the Town’s Tree Advocates and is open M-Th from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and closed for lunch from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.

Congratulations on purchasing property in the Town of Paradise! If you are building, we want to make sure you are informed on lot upkeep during the process. Please contact the Town of Paradise if you have any questions regarding weed or tree removal on your property. The Building Resiliency Center (BRC) Continues to Be Open.  The BRC continues to maintain operations during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist those seeking to rebuild.  The Center is open by appointment only and masks are required. Appointments for permitting, building questions, inspections, planning and septic are available same day or next day.  The Rebuild Advocates are available to answer any questions you may have.
