Town of Paradise Weekly Recovery Update 6/7/2023


Our June TOP POP Event, “Go Bag Giveaway during the ‘Prepared Paradise’ Emergency Exercise,” is almost here! Don’t forget to stop by our booth to learn about evacuation routes, Go Bags, the Early Warning Sirens, and more. The goal of this event is to help you feel prepared in the event of an emergency evacuation! RESOURCES & UPDATES 

Installation of the Early Warning Siren Update 

The Early Warning Siren (EWS) construction is moving along! The required 16-foot holes have already been dug for the first twenty towers, with a rebar cage established within each of the above-mentioned holes. With good weather continuing, the project will be moving forward. 

“Prepared Paradise” Emergency Event June 15th, 2023 

The Town of Paradise, in collaboration with Butte County, is pleased to announce the upcoming “Prepared Paradise” Emergency Exercise on June 15, 2023. Taking place from 8:30am-2:00pm, this comprehensive exercise aims to provide a valuable opportunity for local agencies, partner organizations, and the public to engage in emergency response actions and enhance disaster preparedness efforts. 

Residents can anticipate the following timeline of events during the drill day: 

8:30am: Exercise commences- residents will notice uniformed fire responders and vehicles throughout the Town. 

9:00am – 12:00pm: TOP Pop Event at Paradise Community Park 

10:00am: Audible test of the completed Early Warning Sirens. 

10:00am- 11:00am: Traffic control in effect- motorists will be directed to detour from Skyway to Wagstaff to Clark Road. 

“Prepared Paradise” aims to reinforce the resilience of the community in the face of potential emergencies and build confidence in the disaster preparedness measures implemented by the Town of Paradise and Butte County. Collaboration between local agencies, partner organizations, and the public is essential for creating a safer and more secure environment for all residents. 

Building Industry Stakeholders Meeting

Visit the Building Resiliency Center (6295 Skyway) June 7th from 3-4:00pm and listen to guest speakers from the Town of Paradise Engineering Department discussing Special Permit Zones.

CHIP- Single Family Rentals in Paradise

Limited number of 2 & 3 bedroom homes available for rent. CHIP’s Single Family Rental Program will process applications in accordance with funding regulations and requirements. Applications will be labeled with the date & time they are received and thereafter processed on a “first come, first served” basis. Application period is from June 20th– 30th, 2023. Home Buyer Workshop

June 9th from 9:00am- 12:30pm visit the Town of Paradise, Council Chambers to learn about the home purchasing process. Local professionals involved will cover topics such as lender requirements, the importance of the purchase agreement, the title & escrow process and much more! Party in the Park 

Come to the opening night of Party in the Park June 14th from 6-8:30pm at Paradise Community Park (5570 Black Olive Drive). This weekly summer festival event will take place every Wednesday from June 14-August 2nd. To find out more about the event, visit bit.ly/42pVMEU.

TOTR Presents White Rabbit, Red Rabbit

Paradise Pool

Residential Ignition Resistant Improvement Program 

The Town of Paradise is excited to announce that after many years of advocacy and planning, we are launching our Residential Ignition Resistant Improvement Program.  This program helps with the cost of eligible improvements that will help make homes that survived the Camp Fire in Paradise more resilient.  Applications will be accepted through July 31, 2023 or until the program is full. The program is limited to $90,000 in improvements per property. The property owner is responsible for 25% of the total cost of improvements. Burn Permits   

Effective Saturday April 1st, 2023, the Town of Paradise permitted burn start time changed from 8:45 am to 6:00 am. Residential and Fuel Reduction permits issued prior to April 1st, 2023, will not reflect the change in burn hours but permittees will be allowed to start burning at 6:00 am. Permits issued after April 1st, 2023, will have the updated burn hours on them. Burning needs to be completed and piles need to be completely extinguished by dusk. 

Burn permits are required when burning in the Town of Paradise. Burn permits can be purchased online at www.Townofparadise.com or at the Building Resiliency Center, located at 6295 Skyway. All burning must be in accordance with requirements listed on burn permits. Before burning you are required to confirm burn day status with Butte County Air Quality Management District by calling (530) 332-9407 or Toll Free (855) 332-9407. 

COMMERCIAL SIGN REMOVAL PROGRAM 

The Town of Paradise Commercial Sign Removal Program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. Grants will be awarded on a first come first serve basis, until all allocated funds have been expended. A total of $100,000 has been allocated for this program. After an application is approved, the Town will work with the business and licensed contractor to have the sign removed and will pay the contractor directly for the service. For more information and an application, visit bit.ly/3IW9aee
