Need Help With Weed Abatement or Creating Defensible Space?

FRAP (Fuels Reduction Assistance Program) is a volunteer based program to help property owners protect life and property from the threat of wildfire during fire season by assisting them with defensible space (brush removal, limbing and weed abatement) and some basic tree removal (dead and dying trees in the 100′ defensible space). This program is run through Paradise Alliance Church, so call 530-877-7069 for questions and to sign up. Or, get information and sign up online at:

What’s New:

  • Did You Submit A Right of Entry (ROE) For to Opt-in To the State Hazard Tree Removal Program?  Tree assessment is the first stage of the state-managed program. As part of this stage, CalRecycle will:

    •   Inspect trees on your property

    • Mark assessed trees

    • Enter information into a database to track each tree through the removal process.

  • Updated Link! Your Input is Requested! The Broadband needs assessment survey is open and we invite you to participate. Conducted by the Center for Economic Development, on behalf of the Town of Paradise, this survey will gather information about internet usage and needs of residents. It also assesses the interest residents may have in purchasing improved internet services if they were to become available. Take the survey here.

Attention Paradise Business Owners!

The Butte Business Stabilization Program is coming soon.  Butte County has received funding to help local businesses. Please review the following information in preparation of the upcoming application period.

Grant amounts:

  • $15,000 = 5 or fewer employees

  • $25,000 = 6-10 employees

  • $4,900,000 budget – anticipate assistance to 250+ businesses throughout Butte County

Eligible Use Examples:

  • Offset for financial impacts from business closures

  • Costs to modify business model based on impacts from COVID-19

  • Costs to adhere to the requirements for safely re-opening

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Business physically located and operating within Butte County

  • Demonstrated financial need as a result of COVID-19

  • 10 or fewer employees

  • No prior assistance from Paycheck Protection Program or SBA Economic Injury Disaster Relief Fund

  • Business located within a local jurisdiction that is adhering to State guidance related to COVID-19

  • Business will need to attest that they will adhere to State guidance related to COVID-19

  • Business will need to submit a Business Plan summary (no more than 1 page) detailing adaptation plans for next 12 months

  • Early Warning System Project Moving Forward.  The Town has issued a formal request for proposals for the design of an early warning system. Identified as a Tier 1 priority by residents in the 2019 Long Term Recover Plan, the initial grant for planning and design of an early warning system was awarded to the Town via a Hazard Mitigation Grant.

  • Outreach Continues to Those Living in RVs.  The Town of Paradise is conducting on-going outreach and communication to better understand barriers and circumstances of property owners during their effort to rebuild.  The Rebuild Advocates located at the Building Resiliency Center (BRC) are available Monday – Friday to listen and provide resources and assistance in navigating available options.   • The Building Resiliency Center (BRC) Continues to Be Open.  The BRC continues to maintain operations during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist those seeking to rebuild.  The Center is open by appointment only and masks are required. Appointments for permitting, building questions, inspections, planning and septic are available same day or next day.  The Rebuild Advocates are available to answer any questions you may have.   • Haven’t completed your Tree ROE? Don’t wait until it’s too late! There are still over 2,000 properties in The Town of Paradise that have not completed their TROE form. In order to remove all dead and dying trees there is an urgent need for all residents who have not completed this form to make it a priority. Ask your neighbors, family and friends both in town and those who have been relocated out of state but still own property –Have you completed your TROE?

  • Have questions regarding your rebuild? Rebuild Advocates are here to help!  If you need help navigating the rebuild process, the Town of Paradise has Rebuild Advocates available to assist.  They can help with the following:  Navigating insurance, FEMA or SBA, understanding additional financing options, selecting a contractor, submitting plants, or any part of the rebuild process.  They are available at the Building Resiliency Center by appointment only.  Please call 530.872.6291 x429 x430 to make an in-person (depending on COVID status) or phone appointment today!

  • Change to Community Meeting Schedule – 2 Year Anniversary Recovery Update

    Our next Community Information Meeting will be held on Thursday November 5, 2020 at 6pm.  We hope to be able to meet in person, but depending on COVID restrictions we will announce more details as the date approaches.  The Town and our other local agencies will take this opportunity to update our community on our progress in the two years since the Camp Fire.  Save the date for this important event!
